KATHMANDU: Nine individuals have been arrested in Kailali for possession of illegal drugs resembling brown heroin.

The arrests were made by the police, who acted on specific intelligence regarding drug trafficking.

The arrested individuals include 20-year-old Suresh Bista from Bedkot Municipality-8 in Kanchanpur, 23-year-old Lokendra Chand from Bhimdatta Municipality-10, 19-year-old Rijan Kathayat from Dipayal Silgadhi Municipality-8 in Doti, and 18-year-old Ashika Sijapati from Milanchowk, Dhangadhi Sub-Metropolitan-3.

They were apprehended from the NS Hotel in Chhatakpur, Dhangadhi Sub-Metropolitan-3, where drug transactions were reportedly taking place.

Police seized 3 grams and 760 milligrams of brown heroin from their possession.

Additionally, the police arrested 29-year-old Reshmi Karki, 24-year-old Kiran Magar, and 19-year-old Sujan Khadka from Shivpuri, Ward No. 4, who were caught with brown sugar-like narcotic powder.

The powder weighed 50 milligrams, according to police.

In a separate operation, a police team deployed from the Bhajani Police Post in Janakpur, Bhajani Municipality-8, arrested 22-year-old Amit Chaudhary.

From him, police confiscated 60 milligrams of narcotic substances.

Further investigation led to the discovery of an additional 30 milligrams of drugs from his residence and 280 milligrams from an 18-year-old minor accompanying him.

Authorities have confirmed that investigations are ongoing for all the arrested individuals, with further legal actions pending.
