KATHMANDU: The Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) is set to hold a rally in Balaju, Kathmandu, on Tuesday, demanding the restoration of constitutional monarchy and the establishment of Nepal as a Hindu state.

The party claims that a large number of participants will join the rally, including many from outside the Kathmandu Valley.

In preparation for the event, security arrangements have been tightened.

Around 2,000 security personnel, including members of the Nepal Police, Armed Police Force, and the National Investigation Department, will be deployed to ensure law and order.

Surveillance will be carried out using CCTV cameras, body cameras, and drones, and strict action will be taken against anyone involved in unruly behavior.

The rally follows concerns over violent incidents during a similar demonstration on March 28, led by royalists under the leadership of Durga Prasai, which turned violent.

The clashes in Kirtipur led to the deaths of Subin Maharjan and journalist Suresh Rajak, sparking criticism of unnecessary police actions. While the police are refraining from disclosing detailed security strategies for the upcoming event, they have stressed that Balaju is not expected to witness the same level of violence seen in the recent clashes at Tinkune.

RAP has announced that its leader, Rajendra Lingden, will address the gathering. RPP spokesperson Mohan Shrestha stated that the party’s executive committee recently met and decided to ensure the success of the rally.

According to Shrestha, processions from various parts of the Kathmandu Valley will begin at 11:30 AM, though specific details about the starting points are yet to be confirmed.

He emphasized that the rally would be peaceful, with a large number of volunteers being mobilized to assist in the event’s organization.
