12 injured in rabies dog bite

KATHMANDU: Twelve people in Kanchankawal Rural Municipality, Jhapa have been injured due to dog bites from a rabis dog.

According to Jagendra Prasad Yadav, the head of the Baniya Health Center, the number of people injured by dog bites in Ward No. 6 has reached 12 in the past three days.

Among the injured are four women, eight men, and a four-year-old girl.

Details about the animal involved are still pending.

Those bitten by the dog have started receiving rabies vaccinations at the Baniya Health Center since this morning.

Yadav mentioned that the center only has a limited supply of vaccines, sufficient for one dose per person, and has already requested additional supplies from the Koshi Province Health Supply Management Center.

Nawaraj Bhattarai, the vice-chairman of the municipality, stated that, to control the situation, the municipality has deployed staff from the Agriculture and Animal Husbandry Department, along with the police, to manage the stray dog issue.
