KATHMANDU: Minister for Physical Infrastructure and Transport, Devendra Dahal, has announced that vehicles operating in violation of established standards will be prohibited in coordination with the Ministry of Home Affairs.

During a discussion with transport operators and workers at the Ministry, Dahal emphasized that the enforcement of road standards cannot be handled solely by the Department of Roads and Traffic, and will require coordination with the Home Ministry as well.

He further assured that alternative routes and diversion systems will be prioritized to avoid disruptions caused by construction sites.

The repair work on the B.P. Highway, which connects Kathmandu to Eastern Nepal, has been accelerated, and maintenance of the Kantilok Path, which will serve as an alternative route, is being given top priority.

Secretary of the Ministry, Keshav Kumar Sharma, also highlighted the need for better coordination with the Home Ministry, traffic police, and federal authorities to organize traffic management.

He acknowledged the difficulties caused by ongoing construction on the Daurne road and assured that suitable arrangements would be made to facilitate both passenger and freight vehicles at appropriate times.

Sharma reiterated that the construction of this stretch of road is a top priority and promised that traffic flow would soon be eased.

The meeting was attended by representatives from the Transport Business Association, labor organizations, and key officials from the Department of Roads, including Director General Ram Hari Pokharel.
