National Information Commission Forms Committee for RTI rules amendment & improvement

KATHMANDU: The National Information Commission has decided to form a committee to present a report on the amendments and contemporary improvements to the Right to Information Rules 2065, the Monitoring Directive 2076, and other directives and procedures issued by the Commission.
In a press conference held on Monday in Kathmandu, the Commission announced its decision to form the committee to present a report with necessary amendments and improvements to the directives and procedures.
The Commission has also decided to move forward with the process of organizational and management surveys based on a theoretical agreement, in line with the legal provision in the Right to Information Act, 2064, which allows the Commission to open offices as necessary.
During the press conference, Chief Information Commissioner Dr. Suresh Prasad Acharya mentioned that the Commission is continuing its regular work, including reviewing appeals from information activists and issuing orders accordingly.
He informed that 14 appeals related to the Right to Information have been received in the past month, and orders have been issued in 56 ongoing cases.
Additionally, he announced that the Commission will celebrate its 17th anniversary on the 22nd of Baisakh with a grand event, with President Ram Chandra Paudel invited as the chief guest.
As part of the anniversary celebrations, applications have been invited for the selection of the best information officer, with notifications published in the Gorkhapatra and the Commission’s website on the 27th of Fagun.
