Hetauda Cement Industry resumes production after five months

KATHMANDU: Hetauda Cement Industry has resumed cement production from today, after a five-month hiatus.

The production had been halted due to a shortage of electricity required for the manufacturing process.

With the restoration of the electricity supply, the industry is now back in operation.

The industry requires eight megawatts of electricity daily for crushing limestone, as stated by the industry’s General Manager, Navinkumar Karna.

Currently, around 1,900 metric tons of coal are stored in the industry’s inventory.

In the second phase, the industry plans to bring in approximately 4,000 metric tons of coal through a tendering process.

The industry, established in 1976 in Lamshure, Hetauda, was officially inaugurated on 26th of Mangsir, 2043 BS.

At the time of its establishment, the industry had an investment of 150 million Nepali Rupees.

Currently, the industry provides permanent employment to 195 individuals across various departments, including administration, marketing, accounting, storage, technical, and labor.

Although the industry has a production capacity of 18,000 bags of cement daily, it is currently producing only 12,000 bags per day.
