KATHMANDU: Former Vice President Nanda Bahadur Pun (Pasang) has been appointed as the Vice President of the CPN (Maoist Centre).
According to party Secretary Leelamani Pokhrel, the decision to appoint Pun as a central member, Standing Committee member, and Vice President was made during a meeting of the party’s leadership on Chait 19.
Earlier, Pun had participated as a guest at the central committee meeting of the Maoist Centre held in the third week of Falgun.
Now, he has been formally recognized as the Vice President across all levels of the party.
This decision has been communicated to the lower structures of the party via a circular.
Previously, Pun was entrusted with the responsibility of heading the Bureau of Production. He has been actively involved in various meetings of the Maoist Centre as an invited leader for a long time.
Pun, who served two terms as Vice President from 2072 to 2079, made a return to active politics in Magh this year.
When he first expressed his desire to re-engage in politics, there was some criticism, but the party has now given him significant responsibility, bringing him back into the mainstream.
The Maoist Centre views Pun’s reintegration into the party and his nomination as Vice President as a strong signal of the expansion of leadership within the party.
