KATHMANDU: Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) President Rabi Lamichhane has been presented before the Rupandehi District Court in connection with a cooperative scam case.

He was taken to Bhairahwa by air early on Saturday morning and was subsequently presented in court a short time ago.

Lamichhane is implicated in a fraud case related to the Supreme Cooperative Organization in Butwal.

Based on this connection, the High Court of Tulsipur, Butwal bench had issued an arrest order.

Following this order, Lamichhane was arrested in Kathmandu on Friday.

According to the District Police Office, Rupandehi, after completing the necessary legal procedures in court, Lamichhane is expected to be transferred to the Bhairahwa prison today.

A process is also underway to seek remand from the court for further investigation and legal proceedings.

In this case, Lamichhane is accused of defrauding millions of rupees in collaboration with cooperative operators.

Previously, Lamichhane had publicly claimed his innocence and denied any involvement in the cooperative scam.

However, following the court’s order, the police have initiated further investigation into the matter.
