Sunrisers Hyderabad’s struggles continue after crushing loss to Gujarat Titans
On Sunday night, they suffered a 7-wicket defeat against Gujarat Titans, marking their fourth consecutive loss of the season.

KATHMANDU: Sunrisers Hyderabad’s momentum from their thrilling 44-run victory over Rajasthan Royals in the opening match of the IPL 2025 season has since faltered.
On Sunday night, they suffered a 7-wicket defeat against Gujarat Titans, marking their fourth consecutive loss of the season.
With just two points from five games, Hyderabad has slipped to the bottom of the points table, while Gujarat, with 6 points, has moved up to second place.
Chasing a modest target of 153 runs, Gujarat achieved it comfortably in just 17.2 overs, losing only 3 wickets.
The chase was propelled by a spectacular knock from captain Shubman Gill, who made 61 runs off 43 balls, including 6 boundaries.
Washington Sundar added 49 runs off 29 balls, and Sherefane Rutherford finished things off in explosive fashion, scoring an unbeaten 35 off just 16 balls.
Gujarat’s start was far from ideal. They lost both Jos Buttler (0 runs) and Sai Sudharsan (5 runs) early in the fourth over, putting them in a tricky position.
However, captain Gill’s composed batting steadied the ship and guided them to victory.
Earlier, after losing the toss and being asked to bat first, Hyderabad could only manage 152 runs in their 20 overs, losing 8 wickets in the process.
Nithish Kumar Reddy was the top scorer with 31 runs, while Heinrich Klaasen made 27. Captain Pat Cummins added 22 runs off 9 balls, including 3 fours and a six.
Gujarat’s bowlers were outstanding, with Mohammad Siraj leading the charge.
He claimed 4 wickets for just 17 runs in his 4 overs, while Prasidh Krishna and Sai Kishore took 2 wickets each. Siraj was named ‘Player of the Match’ for his brilliant bowling performance.
The next match will see Mumbai Indians take on Royal Challengers Bangalore on Tuesday, scheduled to start at 7:45 PM IST.
