British national dies while trekking

KATHMANDU: A British citizen, Thompson Ian, who had come to the Manaslu region for trekking, tragically passed away in Larke, Chumanuwri Rural Municipality-1, Gorkha on Sunday.

The incident occurred while he was on a hike when he suddenly collapsed.

According to DSP Indra Prasad Suvedi from the Gorakha District Police Office, Ian died at the spot around 10 AM on Sunday. “We were preparing to send a police team by helicopter to the incident site, but due to unfavorable weather conditions, the flight couldn’t take off,” he said.

The police from Samagaun Police Post take almost 6 hours to reach the site.

Once the weather improves, a police team will be sent to the location on Monday to carry out further investigation, he added.
