RSP president Lamichhane to appear in Rupandehi District Court
Lamichhane was arrested on Friday from Hattigaunda, Kathmandu, and brought to Bhairahawa for legal proceedings.

KATHMANDU: Rabi Lamichhane, the president of the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP), is set to appear before the Rupandehi District Court on Monday.
Lamichhane was arrested on Friday from Hattigaunda, Kathmandu, and brought to Bhairahawa for legal proceedings.
According to DSP Suraj Karki, the spokesperson for the Rupandehi District Police Office, Lamichhane will be presented at the court once it opens for business.
After his appearance, the necessary legal procedures will be followed, and it is expected that he will be remanded in custody the same day.
Lamichhane is facing charges related to cooperative fraud and organized crime. Previously, the Rupandehi District Court had issued an order for his release on a bail of Rs 10 million.
However, Lamichhane challenged this decision and filed a petition in the High Court, requesting his release on a simple date.
In response, the High Court’s Butwal Bench overturned the district court’s decision and ordered that Lamichhane be sent to custody.
Despite the initial court order granting bail, Lamichhane’s legal team requested a reconsideration, resulting in the higher court’s directive to detain him.
Lamichhane was taken into police custody on Friday and held over the weekend due to public holidays. Legal proceedings will resume on Monday.
