KATHMANDU: The Israeli military has acknowledged that its soldiers made a mistake in the killing of 15 emergency personnel in southern Gaza on March 23.

On that day, an ambulance from the Palestinian Red Crescent Society (PRCS), a UN vehicle, and a Gaza Civil Defence fire truck were targeted in a shelling attack near Rafah.

Israel claimed that the vehicles were moving suspiciously in the dark, prompting the military to open fire.

Among the medical staff killed, one had filmed a video during the attack.

The footage shows the vehicle’s lights on while calling for help for the injured.

The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) have claimed that at least six of the medical staff killed were linked to Hamas, although they have yet to provide evidence to support this claim.
