KATHMANDU: Arsenal’s title chase suffered another blow as they were held to a 1-1 draw by Everton on Saturday in the English Premier League.

In the second half, a penalty goal from Iliman Ndiaye helped Everton secure the draw.

This result further weakened Arsenal’s chances of securing the title.

Everton was awarded a penalty in the 49th minute after Myles Lewis-Skelly fouled Jack Harrison. Ndiaye stepped up and converted the penalty, marking his seventh Premier League goal of the season.

Leandro Trossard had put Arsenal ahead in the 34th minute, but their performance in the second half lacked intensity, and they were forced to settle for a draw.

With 62 points from 31 games, Arsenal now trails leaders Liverpool by 11 points. Everton, on the other hand, climbed to 14th place with 35 points.

In other Premier League action, Aston Villa defeated third-placed Nottingham Forest, Crystal Palace overcame Brighton, and Wolves triumphed over Ipswich, all by 2-1 scorelines. Meanwhile, West Ham and Bournemouth played out a 2-2 draw.
