PSG secures Ligue 1 title with 1-0 win over Angers
Lyon had previously won the title with six matches remaining in 2007.

KATHMANDU: Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) clinched the French Ligue 1 title with six matches to spare after defeating Angers 1-0 on Saturday, thanks to a solitary goal from Kylian Mbappé.
PSG needed just one point to secure the championship, but Mbappé’s strike in the 55th minute, following a cross from Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, earned them all three points.
This marks PSG’s earliest title win since 2016 when they secured the Ligue 1 crown with eight matches still to play.
Lyon had previously won the title with six matches remaining in 2007.
The 19-year-old forward, who was born in Angers, has had an impressive debut season in Paris, registering 11 goals and 11 assists.
He joined PSG from Rennes earlier this year.
PSG’s victory marks their 11th Ligue 1 title in the last 13 seasons, and it is their 13th overall top-flight championship.
After 28 matches, PSG have accumulated 74 points, while Monaco sits second with 51 points.
Angers, with just 27 points, are 14th in the standings.
