KATHMANDU: In the Indian Premier League (IPL), Rajasthan Royals, who had a sluggish start to the season, made a strong comeback by securing their second consecutive victory.

On Saturday, Rajasthan Royals registered a commanding 50-run win over Punjab Kings in a one-sided encounter.

Batting first, Rajasthan posted a massive total of 205 runs for the loss of four wickets. Opener Yashasvi Jaiswal played a blistering knock, scoring 67 runs off 45 balls, setting the tone for the innings.

Riyan Parag remained unbeaten on 43 runs off 25 balls, while captain Sanju Samson contributed with a quick-fire 38 runs from 26 balls. Shimron Hetmyer added a quick 20 runs from just 12 balls, and Dhruv Jurel chipped in with 12 runs off 5 balls to propel the team to a challenging total.

In reply, Punjab Kings struggled throughout their chase and could only manage 155 runs for the loss of 9 wickets in their 20 overs.

Nihal Badhera fought hard for Punjab, scoring a valiant 62 runs off 41 balls, while Glenn Maxwell supported with a quick 30 runs off 21 balls.

The pair put together a crucial 88-run partnership for the fifth wicket, but the collapse of wickets shortly thereafter dashed Punjab’s hopes. Both Badhera and Maxwell were dismissed in quick succession, leaving Punjab with little chance of recovery.

Rajasthan’s bowling attack was led by Jofra Archer, who was the standout performer, claiming 3 wickets for just 25 runs in his 4 overs.

Sandeep Sharma and Mahesh Theekshana also impressed with two wickets each.

With this victory, Rajasthan Royals have moved up to seventh place in the points table, accumulating 4 points, while Punjab Kings, also with 4 points, remain in third position.
