KATHMANDU: Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) President Rabi Lamichhane is set to be taken to Bhairahawa on Saturday.

He was arrested from Heppali Heights in Buddhanilkantha and will be transported via air to Bhairahawa, according to the police.

Currently, Lamichhane is in custody at the District Police Office in Bhadrakali, Kathmandu.

On Friday, a team led by SP Sudhir Raj Shahi of the Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) and SP Manohar Bhatt of the Valley Crime Investigation Office arrived at his residence to make the arrest.

The High Court of Tulsipur, sitting in Butwal, issued an order to remand Lamichhane in custody, stating his involvement in the Supreme Cooperative Scam case.

The joint bench of Judges Ramesh Dhakal and Swikriti Parajuli issued the order.

Previously, the Rupandehi District Court had granted Lamichhane bail with a bond of 10 million rupees. However, this decision was overturned by the High Court, leading to his arrest.

Lamichhane had appealed the District Court’s ruling to the High Court.
