KATHMANDU: The Chief Whip of the CPN (Maoist Centre), Hitraj Pandey, has expressed serious concerns over the government’s handling of the recent protests in the Tinkune area, accusing both the government and security forces of grave errors during the demonstrations.

Speaking at the meeting of the State Affairs and Good Governance Committee of the House of Representatives on Friday, Pandey questioned why the protestors were given the Tinkune area for their demonstrations.

He also demanded the identification of those behind the unrest, calling for the main organizers of the agitation to be made public.

Pandey further criticized the current government for allegedly focusing more on the Nepal Electricity Authority and the Governor of the Central Bank rather than addressing the nation’s broader governance issues.

He accused the government of merely running after pre-arranged political setups rather than making meaningful progress.

Pandey also raised concerns over the growing public dissatisfaction, particularly regarding issues like smuggling, and questioned the government’s plans to address this crisis and alleviate the public’s disillusionment.

He urged the government to pay attention to the issues faced by protesting teachers, victims of usury, and cooperative victims.

He concluded by emphasizing that no protest should be taken lightly and that the government’s inaction on these critical issues was damaging the nation’s governance and the trust of the people.
