Police denies tear gas claims in Tinkune incident

KATHMANDU: Nepal Police Inspector General (IGP) Deepak Thapa has clarified that no tear gas was fired from the roof of a house set on fire by royalist groups in Three Kune.

Earlier, claims had circulated that tear gas and gunshots were fired from the roof of the house during the incident, allegedly targeting protesters.
However, IGP Thapa firmly denied these allegations, stating, “Tear gas was not fired from the roof of the house in Tinkune.
Tear gas is fired upwards from below, not downwards from above.” He further emphasized, “No tear gas was fired from the house or the stage.”
Thapa also confirmed that investigations into those involved in the incident are ongoing, with law enforcement gathering facts and evidence.
The authorities are meticulously examining criminal activities and will continue their investigation based on concrete proof.
Additionally, IGP Thapa stated that efforts are underway to locate Durga Prasai, who is allegedly connected to the incident, with the police force actively searching for him.
