KATHMANDU: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli is set to address the 6th Summit of the Bay of Bengal Initiative for Multi-Sectoral Technical and Economic Cooperation (BIMSTEC) today.

The summit, taking place in Bangkok, will feature addresses from the heads of state of all member countries.

The first agenda item of the summit will include the signing of the BIMSTEC Maritime Transport Cooperation agreement.

After the welcoming address by Thai Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha, the various agenda items will be presented, followed by speeches from the leaders of Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Myanmar, Nepal, and Sri Lanka.

After the addresses, the agenda items will be ratified, and Thai Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha will hold a press conference.

Following the summit’s proceedings, Prime Minister Oli will meet Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi for a bilateral discussion at 4:00 PM local time.

The meetings and events will take place at the hotel Sadrial in Bangkok. Prime Minister Oli is in Thailand for his first official visit, after which he will participate in the BIMSTEC Summit.

Later in the evening, Prime Minister Oli will attend a reception hosted by the Nepalese Embassy in Thailand, marking his official visit.

The Prime Minister’s delegation includes First Lady Radhika Shakya, Foreign Minister Dr. Arjun Rana Deuba, Chief Advisor to the Prime Minister Vishnu Prasad Rimala, Economic Advisor Dr. Yuvaraj Khatiwada, Chief Secretary Ek Narayan Aryal, and Foreign Ministry Secretary Amrit Bahadur Rai, among others.
