KATHMANDU: The Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) has demanded the resignation of Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak after an investigation into the incidents that occurred on March 28 at Tinkune.

On Thursday, the party raised its concerns with Acting Prime Minister Prakashman Singh, calling for an impartial investigation into the events.

A delegation led by party President Rajendra Lingden met with Acting Prime Minister Singh to bring attention to the Tinkune incident and surrounding events.

The RPP has claimed that the protest on that day turned violent due to actions from the state side.

The party has expressed concern over serious charges being filed against senior leaders such as Senior Vice-Chair Rabindra Mishra and General Secretary Dhawal Shamsher Rana, accusing them of “crimes against the state.” The RPP has strongly objected to these actions.

The RPP has also called for the formation of an independent investigation commission under the leadership of a former Supreme Court justice, involving the National Human Rights Commission and civil society organizations.

In addition to demanding the resignation of the Home Minister, the RPP has called for the suspension of the police chief and administrative leaders who were responsible for the crackdown on March 28.

Furthermore, they have called for the declaration of the deceased as martyrs and the immediate release of leaders Mishra and Rana.
