SC hears writs on Ghising’s dismissal, Shakya’s appointment
The petitions were heard on Wednesday by a bench of Justices Kumar Chudal and Nityanand Pandey.

KATHMANDU: The writ petitions filed by Kulman Ghising and Nepal Electricity Authority’s newly appointed Executive Director, Hitendra Dev Shakya, are currently under hearing at the Supreme Court today (Thursday).
The petitions were heard on Wednesday by a bench of Justices Kumar Chudal and Nityanand Pandey.
However, the hearing was not concluded and the case was adjourned, with the petitions set for review again today.
The case has been under continued hearings, but it has repeatedly been postponed for further examination.
Ghising filed the petition after being removed from his position, claiming that the government had unjustly dismissed him despite his tenure still being valid.
He has requested an interim order to halt the dismissal. Meanwhile, Shakya filed a writ four years ago, arguing that Ghising’s appointment was wrong and unlawful.
Following the removal of Ghising from the position of Executive Director at Nepal Electricity Authority, there have been widespread protests, both on the streets and in the parliament, against the government’s decision.
