KATHMANDU: Saroj Guragaim, the Chief Administrative Officer of Kathmandu Metropolitan City, has resumed his duties at the office.

He was accompanied by Deputy Mayor Sunita Dangol and city staff to mark his return.

For the past three and a half months, the city employees had been deprived of their salaries due to the absence of the Chief Administrative Officer.

Previously, there had been tensions between the city police and staff when Guragai attempted to enter the office, leading to a confrontation.

Following this, the staff and elected representatives surrounded him and led him into his office.

Under the direction of Mayor Balen Shah, a lock had even been placed on the Chief Administrative Officer’s office.

However, the employees broke the lock to facilitate Guragai’s return to work.

Mayor Balen Shah had placed Guragai on leave starting from Dec 22.
