KATHMANDU: Kathmandu has been experiencing high levels of air pollution for the past four days.
From Chait 17, Sunday, to Chait 20, Wednesday, the air quality in Kathmandu has remained at a “very polluted” level.
On Chait 17, Sunday, the air quality index (AQI) in Kathmandu was recorded at 211.
Similarly, on Chait 18, Monday, it reached 232, on Chait 19, Tuesday, it was 223, and on Chait 20, Wednesday, by 4:00 PM, it had escalated to 247 AQI.
With the air quality continuously exceeding 200 AQI, Kathmandu has once again become the most polluted city in the world on Wednesday.
This severe pollution has led to eye irritation and the accumulation of dust particles in the atmosphere, giving the city a white, hazy appearance.
In response to the ongoing pollution, the Department of Environment has advised the public to wear masks when going outside and avoid outdoor activities during times of high pollution.
