SC hears petition on Ghising’s removal as NEA Chief
The hearing is taking place before the bench of Justices Kumar Chudal and Nityanand Pandey.

KATHMANDU: The Supreme Court is hearing a petition today (Wednesday) regarding the removal of Kulman Ghising from his position as the Executive Director of the Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) and the appointment of Hitendra Dev Shakya in his place.
The hearing is taking place before the bench of Justices Kumar Chudal and Nityanand Pandey.
The petition was scheduled for hearing on Tuesday but was deferred. Previously, a hearing was also set for Sunday regarding the petition, but it could not take place.
Ghising filed the petition arguing that his removal from the position, despite holding the position legitimately, was done with ill intent by the government.
He has requested an interim order to halt the decision.
On the other hand, Shakya has filed a petition claiming that Ghising’s appointment was illegal, as he was removed from the position four years ago.
Following Ghising’s removal from his post at the NEA, there was widespread opposition from both the streets and parliament against the government’s decision.
