Eight MoUs signed between Nepal and Thailand

KATHMANDU: During the official visit of Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli to Thailand, eight memoranda of understanding (MoUs) were signed between Nepal and Thailand.

Two of these MoUs were signed by the governments of both countries, while six others were signed between non-governmental entities.

Before the signing ceremony, Prime Minister Oli and Thai Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha held a bilateral meeting.

They exchanged views on various topics, including political and bilateral relations, trade and economic cooperation, aviation, tourism, culture, development cooperation, and regional and multilateral issues.

In the presence of both prime ministers, two MOUs were signed in the fields of culture and tourism by the respective governments.

Foreign Minister Dr. Arjun Kumar Rana Deuba of Nepal and Thailand’s Minister of Culture, Sudawan Wangsupakijkosol, signed the cultural cooperation agreement. Additionally, Foreign Minister Dr. Deuba and Thailand’s Minister of Tourism and Sports, Phiphat Ratchakitprakarn, signed an MOU on tourism cooperation.

Six MOUs were signed between non-governmental sectors of the two countries.

Notably, the Nepal Netra Jyoti Sangh and Thailand’s Mahidol University Ramathibodi Hospital signed an agreement for cooperation.

The agreement was signed by Prof. Dr. Chet Raj Pant, President of the Nepal Netra Jyoti Sangh, and Prof. Artit Unkanunt, Dean of the Medical Faculty at Mahidol University.

Furthermore, an MoU was signed between Janata Agro and Forestry Nepal (JAFN) and Kasetsart University of Thailand.

Another MOU was signed between the Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI) and Thailand’s Board of Trade.

Kathmandu University and Thailand’s Siam University also signed a cooperation agreement, as did the Nepal Confederation of Industry and the Thai Industry Federation.

Finally, an MoU was signed between the Nepal Chamber of Commerce and the Thailand Tourism Council.
