PM Oli strengthens Nepal-Thailand ties during official visit

KATHMANDU: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has expressed confidence that his official visit to Thailand will elevate the bilateral relations between Nepal and Thailand to new heights.

Oli emphasized that the visit would enhance cooperation between the two countries in various fields such as culture, tourism, education, and energy.
He highlighted the longstanding diplomatic ties of 65 years between Nepal and Thailand, and discussed expanding people-to-people connections.
The Prime Minister also stated that the tourism sector, including hotel business and airline services, would see increased investment and trade from Thailand in the future. He further added, “Nepal and Thailand share deep relations in agriculture, trade, tourism, and culture. I urge Thai investors to explore investment opportunities in Nepal.”
In addition, Prime Minister Oli stressed that both countries would work together on international issues, particularly climate change, through mutual cooperation.
He invited Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha to visit Nepal, expressing hope that the Thai leader would visit in the near future.
Oli’s visit marks the first official visit of a Nepalese Prime Minister to Thailand, coinciding with his participation in the 6th BIMSTEC (Bay of Bengal Initiative for Multi-Sectoral Technical and Economic Cooperation) Summit.
Accompanying Prime Minister Oli on this visit are First Lady Radhika Shakya, Foreign Minister Dr. Arjun Kumar Karki, Chief Advisor to the Prime Minister Bishnu Prasad Rimal, Economic and Development Advisor Dr. Yuvaraj Khatiwada, Chief Secretary of Nepal Mr. Ek Narayan Aryal, and other high-level officials from the Foreign Ministry.
