Nepal Eye Hospital & Mahidol University forge partnership to enhance eye care services
The agreement was formalized in Bangkok today in the presence of Nepal's Prime Minister, KP Sharma Oli, and Thailand's Prime Minister, Prayut Chan-o-cha.

KATHMANDU: A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has been signed between Nepal Eye Hospital and Mahidol University of Thailand to collaborate on the development and expansion of eye care services.
The agreement was formalized in Bangkok today in the presence of Nepal’s Prime Minister, KP Sharma Oli, and Thailand’s Prime Minister, Prayut Chan-o-cha.
The MoU aims to foster the exchange of knowledge, expertise, and technology between the two institutions to improve eye care services. Under the agreement, both parties will jointly run eye care programs, including eye examinations, in Thailand, Nepal, and other countries.
The agreement was signed by Professor Dr. Chet Raj Pant, President of Nepal Eye Hospital, and Professor Artit Ungkanont, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine at Mahidol University’s Ramathibodi Hospital.
According to Dr. Shailesh Kumar Mishra, Executive Director of Nepal Eye Hospital, the two organizations will work together to enhance the experience and capabilities of eye specialists and other professionals in both Nepal and Thailand.
Additionally, they plan to exchange internships and scholarships to further the growth of eye care expertise.
Mahidol University, founded in 1888 by King Chulalongkorn (Rama V), is Thailand’s oldest and most prestigious medical institution, renowned for its excellence in medical research and education.
Nepal Eye Hospital, established in 1978, is one of the leading non-governmental organizations in Nepal, providing accessible and quality eye care services.
With a network of 28 eye hospitals, 224 eye care centers, and 45 district branches, the organization serves over 3 million people annually, performing more than 300,000 eye surgeries.
