Bhatbhadeni Supermarket honors brave security guard for foiling robbery

KATHMANDU: Bhatbhadeni Supermarket awarded its courageous security guard, Dulprasad Parajuli, for his remarkable bravery during a recent robbery incident on March 28.
During a special ceremony, the supermarket owner, Min Bahadur Gurung, presented Parajuli with a cash reward of Rs 501,111, a plaque, and a promotion of five grades, while draping him with a garland of grass as a symbol of respect and honor.
Parajuli single-handedly fought off dozens of robbers, saving the supermarket from the devastating robbery attempt.
A viral video on social media showed him bravely tackling and driving away the intruders, leading to widespread admiration from customers and social media users alike.
With 22 years of service at Bhatbhadeni, Parajuli’s fearless actions have earned him widespread praise from all quarters.
Other employees also played crucial roles during the incident. Security guards Surya Giri, Dipesh Khadka, and Som Bahadur Bhujel were each awarded Rs 25,001 and a grade promotion.
Senior Grocery Supervisor Sagar Gurung received a cash reward of Rs 51,111 and a two-grade promotion for his invaluable contributions.
Despite the significant damage caused during the robbery, including a loss of approximately Rs 8 million, with goods worth Rs 6.49 million stolen, Bhatbhadeni Supermarket quickly resumed its operations the next morning.
Thanks to the dedication and hard work of the staff, the store was able to open its doors to customers as usual the very next day after a thorough cleanup.
