KATHMANDU: Kulman Ghising and Hitendra Dev Shakya, the newly appointed Executive Director of Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA), have filed a writ petition in the Supreme Court, which is being heard on Tuesday.

The bench of Justices Kumar Chudal and Nityananda Pandey is hearing both writs together.

The petition was also scheduled for hearing on Sunday, but it was not heard at that time.

Ghising filed the petition arguing that the government removed him from his position without justification while his tenure was still ongoing, and he has requested an interim order for his reinstatement.

Shakya, on the other hand, filed a writ four years ago challenging Ghising’s appointment, claiming that his removal was illegal.

Following Kulman Ghising’s removal from the position of Executive Director, both public protests and parliamentary opposition to the government’s decision have taken place.
