KATHMANDU: The government has appointed Chudamani Chapagain as the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE).

Chapagain received the appointment letter on Tuesday, as confirmed by the Ministry of Finance.
Revenue Secretary Dineshkumar Ghimire handed over the appointment letter to him.
Among 10 applicants for the position, the selection committee shortlisted Chudamani Chapagain, Purnaprasad Acharya, Badri Prasad Pyakurel, and Hemanta Basyal in the first phase.
Out of these, three candidates were recommended, and the Cabinet ultimately appointed Chapagain to the position.
The Ministry of Finance had formed the selection committee three weeks ago to choose NEPSE’s CEO.
The committee, chaired by the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance, included Amrit Lamsal, the Ministry’s Joint Secretary, and expert members such as Khomraj Kharel.
Since the tenure of the former CEO, Krishna Bahadur Karki, ended, the position of NEPSE CEO had been vacant since Feb 7.
