KATHMANDU: Manish Jha, a Member of Parliament from the RSP, emphasized that government employees should remain loyal to the nation rather than to individual ministers in today’s HoR session.

This remark came in response to Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli’s statement regarding the removal of Kulman Ghising, the Executive Director of Nepal Electricity Authority.

The Prime Minister had implied that loyalty to the minister was a key factor in the decision.

Jha questioned whether the intention was to remove any employee who does not show loyalty to a minister, stating, “Is the goal to remove any employee who does not show loyalty to a minister? Shouldn’t employees be loyal to the country, their duties, responsibilities, and the objectives of their institutions?”

He further added, “Today, the Prime Minister said employees should be loyal to the minister. But are we expecting employees to show loyalty to the minister or to the nation? Should anyone come to work just to flatter the minister? What kind of approach is this, where an employee is transferred simply for not showing loyalty to a minister? We need employees who are loyal to the state, their designated responsibilities, and the goals of their institutions, not to any individual minister.”

Jha concluded by stressing the need to abandon the culture of ministerial loyalty among employees, advocating for loyalty to the state instead.
