PM Oli to address Ghising’s removal in parliament today
Opposition parties have insisted that the meeting cannot proceed until the Prime Minister addresses the issue of Ghising’s removal in Parliament.

KATHMANDU: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli is set to respond in Parliament today.
In a meeting scheduled for 11 AM on Monday, the Prime Minister will explain the reasons behind the removal of Kulman Ghising from the position of Executive Director of the Nepal Electricity Authority.
According to the Chief Whip of the UML, Mahesh Kumar Bartaula, Speaker of the House, Devraj Ghimire, informed the chief whips of major political parties during a discussion on Sunday that the Prime Minister would provide an official response in the House.
Opposition parties have insisted that the meeting cannot proceed until the Prime Minister addresses the issue of Ghising’s removal in Parliament.
Due to this stance, the meetings on Thursday, Friday, and Sunday had already been disrupted. The opposition parties have been blocking Parliament in protest against the removal of Ghising, and thus, the Prime Minister’s response is being closely watched.
On 11th Chait, the government removed Kulman Ghising and appointed Hiten Dev Shakya as the new Executive Director of the Nepal Electricity Authority. Opposition parties are demanding that Ghising be allowed to complete his term and have been protesting the government’s decision.
Meanwhile, Kulman Ghising has filed a writ petition in the Supreme Court against the government’s decision. The court is scheduled to hear the case on Tuesday.
Although a hearing was expected on Sunday before a bench of Chief Justice Prakashman Singh Raut and Judge Saranga Suvedi, it was postponed due to Justice Raut’s former associate, advocate Radheshyam Adhikari, representing Shakya’s side. As Shakya’s writ is also before the same bench, both cases will be heard together on Tuesday. Shakya has also requested that a decision be made first on his earlier writ.
