KATHMANDU: In the second match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) held on Sunday, Rajasthan Royals registered their first win by defeating Chennai Super Kings by 6 runs.

Captain Ruturaj Gaikwad was the top scorer for his team, making 63 runs, including 7 fours and 1 six.

On the bowling front, Rajasthan’s Jofra Archer made an excellent start by taking 1 wicket for just 13 runs in his first 3 overs.

Wanindu Hasaranga was the standout bowler, taking 4 wickets for 35 runs in his 4 overs, playing a crucial role in Rajasthan’s victory.

Earlier, after losing the toss and being asked to bat first, Rajasthan set a respectable total of 182 runs for the loss of 9 wickets.

Nitish Rana played a blistering knock, scoring 81 runs off 36 balls, including 10 fours and 5 sixes. His explosive innings earned him the “Player of the Match” award.

Captain Riyan Parag contributed 37 runs off 28 balls. Among Chennai’s bowlers, Khaleel Ahmed, Noor Ahmad, and Matheesa Pathirana each took 2 wickets.

Noor Ahmad has been in excellent form in the tournament, taking 9 wickets in 3 matches so far.

After suffering their second consecutive defeat at home, Chennai faces early challenges in the tournament.
