National Strategy on Foreign Invasive Species approved

KATHMANDU: The Minister of Forest and Environment, Ain Bahadur Shahi Thakuri, has approved the National Invasive Species Management Strategy and Action Plan.

The strategy and action plan, prepared by the Forest Research and Training Center, has been in the approval process for the past 15 years and was finally approved today through a ministerial decision.

Dr. Rajendra KC, the Director-General of the Forest Research and Training Center, informed that the strategy plan, which includes suggestions from the Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock Development, and other concerned bodies, has been approved after nearly 15 years of deliberation.

Dr. KC emphasized that the strategy would help control and prevent the spread of invasive species, which have been a complex issue, ensuring better management of these species in the country.
