KATHMANDU: The CPN (Unified Socialist) has strongly condemned the acts of arson, vandalism, and other forms of violence committed during pro-royalist group protests.
The party has decided to hold nationwide protests and exposes by April 7, condemning the anarchic actions.
During a meeting of the party’s Standing Committee at the central office in Aloknagar on Saturday, the decision was made to publicly denounce the acts committed by royalist groups during their demonstrations.
The protests saw violence, killings, arson, vandalism, and looting, and the CPN (Unified Socialist) demanded strict legal action against those involved.
At a press conference on Sunday, the party’s central publicity and publication department head, Prakash Jwala, stated that the party had called for the harshest legal consequences for the individuals involved in the violence during the protests.
He also emphasized that the government’s failure to deploy adequate security forces to prevent the violence, including killings and destruction, was a clear sign of its incompetence and weakness.
Furthermore, the party demanded appropriate compensation for the families of those who lost their lives in the protests.
Jwala also condemned the attacks on media outlets, highlighting the attempts to suppress press freedom, and reaffirmed the party’s opposition to such acts.
In response to the vandalism, stone-throwing, and arson at the party’s central office in Aloknagar, Kathmandu district office, and the residence of party chairperson Madhav Kumar Nepal, the CPN (Unified Socialist) announced that protests would be held by party committees across the country by April 7.
The party blamed the government for its inability to provide adequate security measures, which led to the physical damage.
