KATHMANDU: The 11th meeting of the Karnali Health Science Institute’s Board has approved the action plan to establish a 50-bed satellite hospital in the Rakam Karnali area of Aathbiskot Municipality, Dailekh.

The meeting, held today at the Prime Minister’s residence in Baluwatar, also approved the plan to upgrade the existing 15-bed hospital at the same location, in accordance with the decision made by the Government of Nepal’s Cabinet.

The action plan aims to implement the necessary steps for this upgrade.

To ensure the hospital’s infrastructure, staffing, and resource requirements, the Institute will propose plans to the Government of Nepal and other relevant stakeholders.

During the meeting, Prime Minister and Chancellor of the Institute, KP Sharma Oli, instructed for swift progress on the project, with necessary consultations and cooperation with the local authorities.

He reassured that, since the government has fully funded the Institute from the beginning, it will provide its utmost support to ensure that the upgraded hospital offers accessible health services to the local population.

Additionally, the meeting approved the remaining budget for the current fiscal year and discussed the internal auditor’s report for the previous fiscal year.

The proposed budget for the upcoming fiscal year, along with the annual program, was also approved.

The meeting saw the nomination of new board members as well.

The meeting was attended by Health and Population Minister and Vice Chancellor Pradeep Poudel, National Planning Commission member Dr. RP Bichha, Vice Chancellor of the Institute Dr. Mangal Rawal, among others.
