KATHMANDU: Nepal Police Chief, Inspector General of Police (IGP) Deepak Thapa, emphasized that maintaining peace and security, as well as safeguarding life and property, are the primary responsibilities of the Nepal Police.

During a virtual address on Saturday, he stated that despite any challenging circumstances, police personnel should make the most of available resources and maintain high morale in order to effectively deploy police forces.

IGP Thapa also stressed the need for effective security arrangements to prevent any criminal activities in their respective areas.

He urged police officers to gather and analyze information on criminal activities and to devise necessary security strategies while focusing on efficient police deployment.

He highlighted the importance of developing security plans for their areas of responsibility and collaborating with all concerned parties to ensure smooth operations.

Thapa further stated that, given limited resources, police personnel should remain patient and sensitive while performing their duties.

They must address public issues promptly and act with determination to combat illegal arms trade, explosives trafficking, smuggling, and other forms of organized crime. He also emphasized that the police must take a strong and relentless stance against such illegal activities.

The event saw the virtual participation of Deputy Inspector Generals of Police, senior officers, and representatives from various police offices including the Kathmandu Valley Police Office, all seven provincial police offices, Highway and Traffic Management Offices, Provincial Police Training Centers, and District Police Offices.
