Tributes paid to journalist Rajak, FNJ stages protest

KATHMANDU:  Tributes have been paid to media professional Suresh Rajak, who tragically lost his life during the violent protests led by supporters of the former king in Tinkune, Kathmandu, on Friday.

A demonstration was held this morning at Maitighar, organized by the Federation of Nepali Journalists, calling for a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding Rajak’s death and for strict action against those responsible.

Rajak, a camera operator for Avenues Television, was found dead inside a building that was reportedly set ablaze by the protesters in Tinkune.

At the event, Deepak Acharya, Acting President of the Federation of Nepali Journalists, reaffirmed the Federation’s commitment to seeking justice for the late journalist Rajak.

He emphasized the need for journalists to come together to safeguard their lives and property.

Former presidents of the Federation, including Taranath Dahal, Dharmendra Jha, and Shiva Gaunle, along with other journalists, attended the protest, demanding justice for Rajak and compensation for his grieving family.

In light of this tragedy, all events planned for the FNJ’s Establishment Day have been postponed, and a protest has been launched, according to Ram Krishna Adhikari, the central treasurer of the Federation.

The Federation will convene an emergency meeting of its central members today to discuss further actions and plans to meet with the Minister of Communications and Information Technology to submit a formal memorandum.
