KATHMANDU: Protests held at Maitighar Mandala in response to the tragic death of journalist Suresh Rajak, who died during a chaotic demonstration by royalist supporters on Friday.

The Nepal Journalists’ Federation organized the protest, with participants demanding the immediate arrest of those responsible and strict legal action against them.

Due to the altered circumstances, the Federation postponed its planned programs for the organization’s foundation day and instead took to the streets.

Rajak, a cameraman for Avenues Television, was covering the royalist group’s rally when he was found dead in a burning building.

According to reports, the protesters set fire to a house in Tinkune, where Rajak had been filming. He was reportedly locked inside the house with the gate bolted shut, which led to his tragic death in the fire.

The Nepal Journalists’ Federation, along with various other organizations, has called for a thorough and impartial investigation into the incident and urged the government to ensure the perpetrators face severe punishment.
