KATHMANDU: The district administration office of Kathmandu has lifted the curfew that was imposed earlier.

According to Chief District Officer Rishiram Tiwari, the curfew order, which was extended until Saturday morning, has now been suspended.

On Friday, following a violent protest by monarchist groups, the administration issued a curfew order targeting certain areas of Kathmandu, particularly around the Tinkune area, which was in effect until 10 PM.

However, as the situation did not improve, the curfew was extended until 7 AM Saturday, covering five locations from Shantinagar Bridge to Manohara Khola Bridge.

The curfew order was lifted at 7 AM, as per an official notice from the administration.

During this period, there were reports of violent clashes, with incidents of vandalism and arson.

Protesters, defying the curfew order, became increasingly aggressive.

In the violence, two people, including a journalist, lost their lives, and dozens of others, including security personnel, were injured.

Although the curfew has been lifted, security measures have been tightened, and the administration has urged the public to remain alert.
