KATHMANDU: Protesters supporting the royalist movement attempted to vandalize and set fire to the Annapurna Media Network office located at Tinkune in Kathmandu.
According to Manoj Basnet, the general manager of Annapurna Media Network, the protesters broke the building’s windows and attempted to set fire to the premises.
The protest, which was concentrated around the Tinkune area on Friday, saw attacks and destruction at media houses, private homes, and offices by the royalist demonstrators.
Basnet described the incident as an act of terror, highlighting the violent nature of the attack.
As incidents of arson at private homes, shops, media outlets, and government property escalated, the Kathmandu District Administration Office imposed a curfew in the Tinkune area.
The decision to enforce the curfew came in response to the increasing lawlessness, with protests also targeting security forces and fire engines.
Despite the curfew, royalist protesters continued chanting slogans in the Tinkune area.
