KATHMANDU: Royalist protesters have vandalized homes and set fires at Tinkune in Kathmandu.

Although a rally was planned to culminate in a gathering at Tinkune, tensions escalated as crowds had already gathered.

The protesters damaged windows of houses along the roadside at Tinkune.

The situation turned tense when royalists attempted to break through a designated barricade in the area.

In response, they threw stones at the police.

To control the situation, the police used tear gas.

The Joint People’s Movement Committee, led by Nawaraj Subedi, has assigned businessman Durga Prasai the responsibility of mobilizing the public for the protest.

The movement has also garnered support from the Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) led by Rajendra Lingen.
