KATHMANDU: A royalist protest in Kathmandu’s Tinkune area has been significantly impacted following a clash between royalist protesters and the police.
The altercation occurred when the police deployed tear gas to disperse the protesters.
Royalists, arguing that life has become increasingly difficult for the people since the establishment of the Republic, took to the streets demanding the restoration of the monarchy.
They called for the reinstatement of the monarchy and the establishment of a Hindu kingdom in Nepal.
The royalist movement is being led by Durga Prasai, a medical professional, who is heading the “Nation, Nationality, Religion, Culture, and Citizens’ Protection Great Campaign.” Alongside him, Nawaraj Suvedi is leading the “Joint People’s Movement Committee for the Restoration of the Monarchy.”
The local authorities have granted permission for these groups to hold their protest in the Tinkune area.
