Anjila arrives in Nepal for audience interaction, receives grand welcome

KATHMANDU: The lead actress of the hit Nepali movie Anjila and captain of the national women’s football team, Anjila Tumbapo Subba, arrived in Kathmandu on Friday morning.

She landed at Tribhuvan International Airport at 10 AM on a Qatar Airways flight to promote the movie based on her life.

Anjila, who came to Nepal from Greece for a four-day visit, was given a grand welcome by the movie unit upon her arrival.

On Friday, she met with audiences in various halls around the Kathmandu Valley, as director Milan Chams shared.

On Saturday, she will remain in Kathmandu, but starting Sunday, Anjila will visit halls in Eastern and Western Nepal.

She is scheduled to interact with audiences in Pokhara, Nepalgunj, Birtamod, Dharan, Itahari, Chitwan, and Dang.

Producer Prem Kumar Shrestha clarified that Anjila’s visit is purely for the movie’s promotion.

Currently, Anjila plays in Greece’s top division women’s football league for NIS Aetromitos and has been living there for a few months for the sport. After completing the promotion tour, she will return to Greece.

The movie Anjila portrays the struggles and successes of Anjila’s childhood and football career.

Alongside Anjila, the film features performances by Prem Kumar Shrestha, Sunil Thapa, Dayahang Rai, Bijay Baral, Srijana Subba, Mao Tse Gurung, Sumin Gurung, Buddhi Tamang, and other actors.

As the movie entered its third week of release on Thursday, it had earned a gross collection of 87 million Nepali rupees in just 13 days.

The film has been well-received by audiences and continues to perform strongly at the box office.
