‘Dorii’ latest movie hits theatres with strong social themes

KATHMANDU: Today, the only Nepali film “Dorii” has been publicly released in theaters across Nepal.
The movie has been released with around 120 screenings nationwide.
Despite this, there has been a lack of enthusiastic bookings in the Kathmandu Valley, which is considered a major market for Nepali films, primarily due to ongoing protests and movements. It is expected that audience attendance will increase for evening shows once the protests subside.
“Dorii” has been awarded a “PG” certificate by the Central Film Censor Board, meaning that only children aged 16 or under can watch the film when accompanied by their parents. Director Arun Lama mentioned that “Dorii” blends social storytelling with elements of humor, thriller, and horror.
He believes the movie’s storyline will resonate with audiences, as it reflects something relatable from everyone’s life.
The film has been written and directed by Arun Lama, who also plays the lead role. The cast includes Praveen Khatiwada, Shishir Bangdel, Prakash Ghimire, Anjana Baraily, Raj Poudel, Kavita Ale, Nutan, Raj Thapa, Birendra Singh Kushwaha, Sharda Adhikari, Prem Subba, Sajan Shrestha, Ram Babu Regmi, and other talented artists.
The movie is produced by Dinesh Bhattarai, with Raj Thapa serving as the executive producer.
The script has been penned by Dr. Manoj Pandit, with Dinesh Bahadur Rawat as the first assistant director, action directed by Raju Tamang, music composed by Rajan Raj Shiwakoti, cinematography by Sourabh Lama, art direction by Roshan Diwana, editing by Milan Shrestha, and color coordination by Renish Phago.
“Dorii” offers a compelling mix of genres and is set to captivate audiences with its engaging storyline and talented ensemble cast.
