Police SI held with 30,000 rupees bribe in Rupandehi

KATHMANDU: In Rupandehi, a Sub-Inspector (SI) of the Nepal Police was arrested by the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) for taking a bribe of 30,000 rupees.

The arrested officer, Khim Bahadur Khadka, was serving at the Hatibanjai (Durgoulia) Police Post in Rupandehi.

According to the CIAA’s Butwal office, Khadka was apprehended with the bribe money.

On Thursday afternoon, Khadka was caught accepting the bribe in exchange for facilitating customs evasion and smuggling activities. Binita Bhattrai, the chief of the Butwal office, confirmed the arrest.

The CIAA is continuing its investigation into the bribery case, and further action will be taken as required.

Khadka, who is the head of the Hatibanjai (Durgoulia) Police Post, has been taken into custody for the ongoing probe.
