Shakya files petition at SC over NEA dispute
The petition seeks to resolve a nearly three-and-a-half-year-old legal dispute and to demand services and benefits for the period in question.

KATHMANDU: Hitendra Dev Shakya, the newly appointed Executive Director of the Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA), has filed a writ petition at the Supreme Court.
The petition seeks to resolve a nearly three-and-a-half-year-old legal dispute and to demand services and benefits for the period in question.
Shakya appeared at the Supreme Court on Wednesday, and the administration requested revisions to the petition on Thursday due to certain procedural issues.
After making the necessary amendments, Shakya’s petition was officially registered on the same day.
The petition specifically requests an interim order, seeking that the ongoing legal matter, which remains unresolved, should not affect his current appointment.
He has also sought not to allow any actions that could impact his new role.
The controversy over Shakya’s appointment began after the dismissal of Kulman Ghising, the former Executive Director of the NEA, and Shakya’s subsequent appointment. This led to a legal battle that reached the Supreme Court.
Ghising has filed his own petition, claiming his dismissal was unlawful, prompting Shakya to take action on his own unresolved issue.
In 2077, Shakya filed a writ petition challenging his transfer from the NEA Executive Director position to the Energy Commission, arguing that the decision was incorrect. He is seeking to obtain the benefits and services he was entitled to during that period.
The court has scheduled the next hearing of this case for Ashar 10, 2082.
