KATHMANDU: The movie “Anjila” has become a super hit at the domestic box office, grossing 8.7 crore rupees in just 13 days of its release.

According to distributor Karan Shrestha, this collection is based on reports received from theaters across the country up until Tuesday of the second week of its release.

Producer Prem Kumar Shrestha mentioned that the movie’s performance in the second week has been as expected, similar to the previous week.

He said, “The movie is doing well in terms of business as we anticipated. The love and support from the audience have motivated us even more. We expect continued good performance in the coming weeks.”

Director Milan Chams expressed his happiness over the success of “Anjila,” stating, “Nepali audiences’ preference for quality cinema has been proven once again.

The story, presentation, and excellent performances by the cast have attracted the audience to the theaters. We hope for even better performance in the coming days.” “Anjila” will soon be released in 16 countries worldwide.

Following the positive response in Nepal, overseas distributors have shown interest in the film, according to the director.

The film is based on the life of Nepali Women’s National Football Team captain, Anjila Tumbapo Subba, in which she herself plays the lead role.

The movie depicts her journey from childhood struggles to her success in the sport.

Alongside Anjila, the film features performances by Prem Kumar Shrestha, Sunil Thapa, Dayahang Rai, Vijay Baral, Srijana Subba, Mao Tse Gurung, Sumin Gurung, and Buddhi Tamang, among others.

As it enters its third week, the movie continues to earn steadily at the box office and has been well-received by audiences.
