Woman electrocuted by monkey deterrent wire in Gulmi

KATHMANDU: A 60-year-old woman from Musikot, Gulmi, died after being electrocuted by an electric wire set up to scare away monkeys.
The deceased, Chandrakala Kumal of Paltaar in Musikot Municipality-7, was reportedly electrocuted while working on her farm.
According to Superintendent of Police (SP) Rajan Bhujel of the District Police Office, Gulmi, Kumal’s husband, Karnbahadur Kumal, had set up the electric wire to drive away monkeys from their field.
Chandrakala was rushed to Lumbini Wami Hospital in Musikot after the electric shock, but the hospital later declared her dead.
A team led by Police Inspector Rajkumar Thapa has been dispatched from the District Police Office for further investigation into the incident.
