KATHMANDU: The ruling parties have decided to withdraw the land-related ordinance.

This decision was made during a meeting of the ruling coalition on Wednesday at Baluwatar.

After the meeting, Nepali Congress Chief Whip Shyam Ghimire informed the media that, as per legal provisions, the ordinance must be ratified by Chaitra 18.

However, with no possibility of certification by that date, the ruling parties have opted to withdraw the ordinance.

Ghimire stated that the ordinance on land relations will now be brought before the Parliament as a regular bill.

He explained, “The discussions were focused on the land ordinance. It was no longer feasible for the ordinance to proceed. Given the legal requirement for certification by Chaitra 18, it could not be introduced as an ordinance. Therefore, we decided to bring it forward as a regular bill, addressing the demands of other coalition parties in the upcoming bill.”

He further added that the ruling parties will ensure that the bill is advanced with consideration of the concerns of all coalition partners.
